Yoga in the garden, with Seren cat

Relaxation before yoga commences

Stretch your head to your left

And stretch your head to your right

Lie on your back, put your paws out stretched in front of you, and back paws to the back

Front paws in

Slowly bring your back and front paws together

Now to the full back stretch, purr, feels so good!

And relax.

Slugs be gone

Last year I went out after dark most nights for slug watch, I picked off the slugs I found, and killed them. I didn't really enjoy it, so I'm looking for alternatives this year.

I've bought some Slug Gone, an Organic method of slug control. It doesn't kill slugs, just deters them from particular plants, as it lots of little wool pellets that the slugs don't like travelling over. So you put them round your tender plants, and it protects them, plus it's harmless and is meant to be actually good for the soil.

I bought a 3.5 litre bag for £11 online. I don't think it'll last very long, but if it saves some of my veggie plants from the slug terrors it'll be worth it.

I'm trying it around some mange tout peas and the sweetcorn I planted yesterday. I'll let you know how it goes...

Daisy: Priceless!

There was a plant sale at one of our local churches on the weekend.

I picked up some busy lizzies, cosmos, lavender, double petunias, pulmonaria, geraniums, and some sweetcorn plants. All for a bargain £10!

Happy Birthday Seren

Our little girl Seren is one today, and it's nine months since we collected her from Bridgend Cats Protection. Here she is enjoying the garden this afternoon. Happy Birthday Seren!

Seeds and seedlings and pea sticks

Thanks to my friend Marie, I have lots more seeds (we did a little seed swapping session the other day).

It's been rain rain rain the last few days, but there was a moment of sunshine so I popped out to plant out some of the broad beans, sweet peas, and as recommended by Monty Don in Gardeners World, I went out and foraged for some branches (it wasn't hard, there'd been high winds the night before and there were lots on the paths!) to put in the ground for the peas to grow around.

The tomato and chilli seedlings in the greenhouse are growing slowly but surely.
